Used truck and trailer live auctions are back!

After going online as a result of COVID-19, physical, face-to-face truck and trailer auctions are making a comeback

Used truck and trailer live auctions are back!

The Protruck Auctions drive-thru auction recently returned to the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.

Having evolved from somewhere to sell a tipper as part of the TiPEX show, the Harrogate event is now a stand-alone auction offering a wide range of trucks and trailers.

The most recent sale included over 430 lots, a Classic and Collectors’ section (offering vehicles form the early 60s through to the early 2000s) and a number of high-value cars.

It was great for potential buyers to see and inspect the vehicles on offer in person, and the combinations of hall and online bidders produced the kind of competition the market needs.

From Dawsondirect, we were able to offer:
  • Two MAN tractor units.
  • An 18t DAF box.
  • An 18t MAN curtainside.
  • A 7.5t DAF box.
  • Two Lawrence David Group trailers (one fridge and one curtainside).
Auctions and Dawsondirect

Auctions are an important sales platform for Dawsondirect and we were pleased with the results.

However, it was noticeable that specialist, bespoke kit – for which there are still long lead times for brand-new vehicles – achieved premium prices, while interest in more standard vehicles was patchy and unpredictable – a possible sign of the used truck and trailer market to come, maybe?
